Here is an easy way to help the foodbank. Link your Basha's card to F.O.R. Begining now until April 2010 everything that you buy from Basha's will count. We will get 1% of your purchases. All you have to do is link your card either with the cashier or online. Ask the cashier to link your Thank You card to our Group ID# 29442. Scan your Bashas' Thank You card and turn your purchases into cash. Or, go to www.bashas.com/charity. Make sure your registered and then input our group Id# 29442. How is easy is that!. Thanks in advance for your help. We will let you know quartlery how much money this brings in for us. It has the potential to bring in up to $5000 by April 30th, 2010 if everyone helps out.

We are so excited to announce the arrival of our refrigerated truck. With all of your help we were finally able to purchase a used truck for us to pick up food in on a daily basis. This was perfect timing as we have had the great opportunity of receiving food from all 3 stores in town now and also Costco in Chandler. This means so much to us and the people that we serve.Fresh food on a daily basis is an amazing thing to have. This also means we have openings for volunteers to help us pick up this food daily. CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!! We need your help picking up food, mornings, Monday through Saturday. Give us a call and we can tell you more information. Thanks again for your support! It is truly a great thing for us.

There will be a Christmas Carnival December 22nd for our families from the food bank. We will have Santa, bouncy houses, crafts, games and pictures. We will hand out gifts and we will also have food boxes available. Last year we gave food to 250 families and gifts to over 550 children. We expect this year to be even bigger. If you are interested in volunteering or you want to donate food give us a call 520-251-0226.

This year the community giving tree will be hosted by Wal-Mart. Our tree will be just inside the main entrance of our Maricopa store and you can find names of our Maricopa children on the tree for you to choose from. Just pull a tag from the tree and once your chose a gift for that child please bring the unwrapped gift back to Wal-Mart and leave it in the bins provided. We will be distributing the gifts at our Christmas Carnival on the 22nd so all gifts need to be in by December 15th so we have a chance to ready for the event.

As you know we like to highlight some of FOR's heros. Well this hero is one of our youngest. Her name is Adriana. She sent us a beautiful drawing and a lovely note along with her donation. "My name is Adriana. I am 6 years old. I had a lemonade stand and with money I made I bought food for the Maricopa food bank. I did it because I wanted to help kids that don't have food."

 

Adriana sent in 25.5 lbs of food from the proceeds of her lemonade stand. How cool is that. Adriana is our hero. She makes a difference! We are so proud of her. Doing what she can. Great job Adriana.
